Edinburgh, 40 minutes by car and very accessible by train from Larbert or Stirling, is the capital city of Scotland and home of our new Parliament. It hosts the world famous Edinburgh Military Tattoowith massed pipe bands, highland dancers and other international performers, in the atmospheric Castle esplanade. and also the Edinburgh International Arts Festival. A visit might also include its many museums and galleries, the Royal Yacht Britannia, Holyrood Palace, which is the Scottish royal residence of the Queen, and of course its varied shopping.
TheFalkirk Wheel is a futuristic engineering project substituting locks to join up the Forth and Clyde Canals to elevate boats 35 metres.
St Andrews is an East coast town about 1½ hours drive away, it is the home of golf and the famous old university. It has extensive sandy beaches.
Culrossjust North of the Kincardine Bridge, is a unique time capsule of a 17th C Scottish town.
